Firstly, huge credit to Simon Fuchs for creating his tutorial series covering game asset creation. He's an incredibly experienced artist and I always take away so many little bits from just watching veterans like himself work. Definitely check out his series (linked below) if you're looking to improve your workflow.
So this little guy here is easily the most complex end-to-end game asset I've built to date. I can't get my hands on ZBrush at the moment so there was a lot of watching how Simon works, then finding similar solutions in Maya with sub-d modelling or into 3DCoat for voxel sculpting and booleans. This process took waaayyy longer than I imagined, but I learnt so much more, and feel very confident in my own little workflow I developed along the way.
