Karting Genk - a popular Belgian karting track - was the first track I worked on after joining Motorsport Games Australia in 2021.
A long anticipated addition to the then early-access game, it was the first opportunity I had to start using Houdini and Houdini Engine for Unreal in production and quickly proved to be an exciting and rapid workflow.
The track surface and main structures already existed when I joined the project, and through my first two HDAs I produced all the track fences and boundary fences, placed tyre bundles and foam barriers, banners, flag poles and power poles, and props throughout the pits.
In the following weeks after I joined, the art team grew to a handful of highly skilled amazing 3D artists whom are responsible for much of the highly detailed models and textures used for set dressing.
