Batch OBJ Exporter for Maya released!

Hi everyone!

I've been working on a batch OBJ exporter for a bit of fun recently, and I'm excited to finally say, I think it's ready for public release! I've designed it with the sole purpose of getting your meshes out of Maya, as fast as humanly possible, to speed up iteration with other DCC apps.

When I worked through Simon Fuchs's really excellent Military Radio tutorial series at the end of 2018, I began to really see the power of using OBJs to quickly and predictably send geo to ZBrush from Maya. Simon was using the mopMultiObjExporter, an older MEL script, which seemed to be a little buggy in todays Maya for me. Since finishing off the tutorial series, I've experimented with GoZ and ZBrush's FBX plugin, but both were a little fiddly, and neither seemed to work for me without a bunch of messing about.

Enter the SimpleObjExportera one-click solution to exporting OBJs from Maya. I wanted exporting to be absolutely as simple and fast as possible, so selecting just one mesh will export to a specified location, whereas a selection of multiple meshes will do a batch export to a specified folder. It's already saved me quite a bit of time in my personal workflow, and I'm excited to potentially help other artists save time too!

The tool is available for free on my Gumroad store.

Although the install process and usage is quite simple, and explained in the included Readme file, I also made a video walking through the process.

This is my first time releasing tool for Maya, and while it is hugely exciting, I'm also anticipating there may be a bug or two (lol right?) that turn up. Please feel free to shoot me an email or message me on ArtStation with any bugs you find, or general feedback on the tool.

Thanks for reading, and enjoy!
